Planned Parenthood appoints new president
James M. Stewart has been appointed President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Rochester/Syracuse Region, effective September 2, according to Virginia Hoveman, Board of Directors chairperson.
Stewart is currently President and CEO at Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, where he has served since 2001. He brings extensive experience in health care, health insurance, HMO and non-profit management. Among positions he has held are President & CEO, QualChoice of Arkansas; Vice President, Industry Relations & Research, Novalis Corporation; President, Albany-Colonie Regional Chamber of Commerce; and Vice President, Empire Blue Cross & Blue Shield/Blue Cross of Northeastern New York.
“Jim is an outstanding leader who combines non-profit knowledge with extensive health care experience. He is ideally suited to lead PPRSR into the future,” said Hoveman.
Throughout his career, Stewart has been deeply involved in volunteer leadership in professional and trade organizations, including several with Planned Parenthood Federation of America. He has served as a volunteer on more than 30 governing boards of health care, social service, church, educational and arts organizations, including a Planned Parenthood affiliate.
He holds a B.A. degree in philosophy, history, and public address from SUNY Albany.
Carol Love will continue to serve as PPRSR CEO until Stewart’s arrival in September.
